Abadía de Tortoreos

◍ Pontevedra

About the winery

Abadía de Tortoreos is in the parish of Setados, in As Neves, on the banks of the Miño between Arbo and Salvaterra, in the Condado do Tea subzone of the D.O. Rías Baixas. It is run by Enrique Fernández and his son José Félix, who carry on the work of a family that has farmed this land for more than a hundred years; the project began with Finca Barrela and today presents itself as a winery making signature Albariño. Its four hectares of vineyard, on steep slopes by the river, are tended by hand and harvested manually into crates. They make three wines: Abadía de Tortoreos Albariño, a very limited Albariño Barrica and a Condado do Tea that adds Treixadura and Loureiro to the Albariño.
