Condes de Albarei is a winery in Cambados, in the Val do Salnés, within the D.O. Rías Baixas. It was founded in 1988 by local growers who wanted to make quality Albariño, and in 1991 its wine won a gold medal at the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux, a first at the time for a Spanish white. It sources from its own vineyards, looked after all year round by its field technicians. Alongside the classic Condes de Albarei, it makes Albariños such as Enxebre, made by carbonic maceration; Carballo Galego, fermented in new oak; en rama, aged for years on fine lees; Albarei Orixe, fermented on its skins; and Albarei TEMPERO, from vines over 40 years old. It also makes reds from Espadeiro and a blend of Caíño, Espadeiro and Mencía.
