About the winery
Adega do Ricón is the winery of Adrián Simón Ricón, a young grower from Arbo, by the Miño and facing Portugal, in the D.O. Rías Baixas. It occupies the ground floor of his grandparents' house, in a family that was already growing grapes in the early twentieth century, and his grandfather Luis planted most of the vines in the 1960s. Adrián farms around two hectares split into sixteen plots, without herbicides or insecticides, with Albariño, Loureira, Treixadura and Godello for whites and Sousón, Mencía, Caíño Tinto, Espadeiro and Brancellao for reds. He makes few bottles, with spontaneous fermentations: Ricón Blanco, Ricón Tinto, the ancestral-method sparkling wine, Viravolta and the Anne range, with a barrel-aged white, a skin-contact wine and another aged under flor.
