About the winery
Finca La Picaraza is a family winery in Requena, within the D.O. Utiel-Requena, whose origins go back to 1886. Today it is run by the fifth generation, who still make wine in the same cellar their ancestors founded, set in a natural spot where the vines live alongside the forest. They work mainly with Bobal from old, dry-farmed vines, harvested by hand and with very low yields. From them comes La Picaraza red, a single-varietal Bobal made in very small quantities, and a rosé from Bobal and Tardana grown on the estate itself, which lies on a mountain slope at around 850 metres and is pressed in an old vertical press.
