About the winery
Finca Marañuela is a family vineyard in La Perdoma, La Orotava, within the D.O. Valle de La Orotava in northern Tenerife. Four generations have worked this estate, where wine has been made since 1972, and today it is run by Juan Felipe García Rodríguez, who returned to his father's vines after years in tourism. Its Listán Negro and Listán Blanco vines are over a hundred years old, ungrafted and trained in cordón trenzado, and grow alongside coffee, bananas and sunflowers on an organic farm. He makes natural wines with no added sulphites, spontaneous fermentation and very few bottles, such as Terna, !!! and the Principio de Incertidumbre series. The visit, about two hours long for small groups, is led by the winemaker himself through vineyard and coffee plantation and ends with a tasting of four wines.
