Bodega la Araucaria
About the winery
Bodega La Araucaria is on the El Montijo road in La Orotava, in the north of Tenerife, and belongs to the D.O. Valle de La Orotava. It is run by grower Dolores Cabrera, who sells her wines under the La Araucaria brand. Her red comes from century-old Listán Negro vines on the San Antonio plot, at around 450 metres above sea level, farmed organically and hand-harvested. She makes it by whole-bunch carbonic maceration in stainless steel tanks, without temperature control, and bottles it unfined and unfiltered with a minimal addition of sulphur. The range registered with the designation also includes a dry white, a fruity white, a rosé, the Paraje La Perdoma red and barrel-aged and crianza reds.
