Bodega Masos

◍ Alicante

About the winery

Bodega Masos is the project of the Vidal Balaguer family, settled for generations in the Vall de Guadalest, inland Alicante. It was born at Mas de Ondara, an estate surrounded by century-old olive trees where vine growing is already mentioned in the Llibre del Repartiment of James I, and it is part of the restoration of four family farmhouses; with the winery in Benimantell, the family has revived winemaking after a century of neglect. Under the D.O. Alicante it makes the red Vidal Balaguer, from Monastrell, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Garnacha Tintorera; Albor de Masos, its first red; the white Mas de la Mona, a barrel-fermented Chardonnay; and the rosé Penya del Castellet, from Monastrell. It offers wine tastings, wine and olive oil tastings with a winery visit, and a pairing menu.
