Bodega Murcal
About the winery
Bodega Murcal is on the Tío Luis road in La Perdoma, in the municipality of La Orotava, and is registered with the D.O. Valle de La Orotava. Its origins go back to Estanislao Hernández (1916-1971), from La Cruz Santa, who together with his wife, Carmen Hernández, began selling the wine made by his father-in-law; that wine soon became well known in the area for its strength and quality. Today the business is carried on by his grandson, Cándido Hernández, who keeps the family character of the winery. It makes two brands: Stanis, in memory of the founder, with a fruity white, a dry white, a traditional red and a barrel-aged red, and Murcal, which includes whites, a Listán Negro and a barrel-aged red, as well as the Cariante Murcal wine.
