The origins of Santa Catalina del Mañán, popularly known in its early days as Bodega del Mañán, go back to 1962 with the founding of a large winery on the Mañán plain, Monóvar. The current winery owes its name to the town's patron saint and has been expanded over the years to reach a harvest of five and a half million kilos of grapes and a stock of French oak and American oak barrels for its crianza wines, as well as for the wine that has characterised the province of Alicante throughout history, Fondillón.
