About the winery

Viña de Eufemia is in El Pontón, in the municipality of Requena, within the D.O. Utiel-Requena. When they arrived there was no winery, just Bobal, Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Tardana vines, some up to eighty years old, and they chose to build on what was already there. The vineyards sit at around 700 metres on the Requena plateau, on poor limestone and clay soils, and are farmed following regenerative viticulture and permaculture principles: olive and fruit trees among the vines and a local flock that fertilises the land. They harvest by hand, ferment with native yeasts and keep sulphites to a minimum. Their wines are the Balsa white, the Carrascal Bobal rosé, the Noria red and the Carrasca Negra Brut Rosé sparkling wine. They offer guided tastings with their winemaker and a visit to the production area and barrel room.
