About the winery
Bodegas Cueva stands in the centre of La Portera, a hamlet of Requena at the heart of the Utiel-Requena area and within its D.O. It occupies an 18th-century building that has always made wine in a natural, artisan way, today under the name Bodega Cueva by Mariano. It works only with certified organic grapes: Bobal, which gives body and colour to its reds, together with Tempranillo and Garnacha, and the late-ripening Tardana for whites and low-alcohol sparkling wines. Its wines are neither filtered nor treated and rest in the house's ageing cellars. It makes reds, whites, sparkling wines and liqueurs in small quantities.
