Bodegas Lustau

◍ Cádiz

About the winery

Bodegas Lustau is based on Calle Arcos in Jerez de la Frontera, within the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry D.O. It began in 1896 with José Ruiz-Berdejo, who aged wines at his vineyard to sell to other wineries; in the 1940s Emilio Lustau moved it to the Santiago quarter and in 1945 began selling under its own brands. Since 1990 it has belonged to the Luis Caballero group, and in 2000 it moved into six restored 19th-century winery buildings. It makes the full range of sherries in Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar, with lines such as Solera Familiar, Almacenistas and VORS, as well as vermouth, brandy and vinegar. It offers several visits through its cellars with tasting glass in hand, one of them devoted to vermouth.
