Bodegas Miguel Aguado

About the winery

Bodegas Miguel A. Aguado is in San Martín de Montalbán, in the Montes de Toledo district, and makes Vino de la Tierra de Castilla. Its story begins in 1934, when grandfather Félix planted a family vineyard and sold his wine in bulk from a small cellar of clay jars. In 1968 his son Francisco took over, and Miguel Ángel, who began making his own wines at 14, founded the present winery in 1980 and runs it today. Its vineyards, more than 13 hectares on the Cabeza Toro and Dehesa estates, are planted with cencibel, cabernet sauvignon, macabeo and garnacha, and its crianza and reserva wines are aged in American and French oak. It also makes sparkling wine, vermouth and liqueurs. The guided visit covers the history of the house and the winemaking process and ends with a tasting of its wines.
