About the winery
Bodegas Murviedro is based in Requena, at the heart of the D.O. Utiel-Requena. Its roots lie in Schenk España, a subsidiary of the Schenk house that opened wineries in Alicante, Utiel and Requena in the late 1920s and for decades focused on exports from the port of Valencia. In 1997 it moved next to the Requena vineyards and in 2002 it took the name Murviedro. Today it focuses on native varieties and old vines, with Bobal as its hallmark. In Requena's old town it opened its Historic Winery, a network of caves dug into the rock where it makes La Casa de la Seda, which can be explored on a guided visit in Spanish or English.
