About the winery
Pazo Cilleiro is in Meis, in the Val do Salnés, very close to the monastery of Armenteira and within the D.O. Rías Baixas. It is the Galician winery of the Rioja group Muriel Wines. The grapes come from a mosaic of small plots spread across the whole area and tended by more than two hundred and fifty local growers, with whom they keep a close relationship, and many of the vines follow the traditional Galician pergola system. They make three Albariños: Pazo Cilleiro Albariño, from vines twenty to twenty-five years old; Pazo Cilleiro Sobre Lías, with more texture thanks to ageing on its fine lees; and Pazo Cilleiro Cincuentenario, from vineyards around fifty years old.
