About the winery
Bodegas Pigar is a family project in Campo Arcís, a hamlet of Requena in the D.O. Utiel-Requena. It began in 2014, and in 2016 Juan and Susana left their jobs in the city to return to the village and devote themselves to it full time. They bring abandoned vineyards and forgotten varieties back to life, farm organically with legume cover crops and make natural wines with yeasts from the grape skins, without filtering or fining, also reviving the use of clay jars. Their wines include ancestral-method sparklers such as Chachachá and MussKat, Bobal reds such as Bobales Perdidos and La Serratilla, and orange wines such as El Ardachero and their Tardana, all with watercolour-illustrated labels.
