About the winery
Bodegas Vereda Real is a family winery in Requena, in the Utiel-Requena D.O., founded in 2000 by José Luis Cárcel, who runs it, with Pedro Cárcel in charge of the technical side. Its hallmark is Bobal, the area's native grape, which they grow alongside some Tempranillo and Syrah, and they are also reviving almost forgotten local varieties such as Tardana, Bobal Blanca and Moravia. They take great care over ageing, with oak from different origins, including Spanish oak, and have added concrete tanks and amphorae. Their range includes a signature red, the young Bobalia, whites from Macabeo and Chardonnay, Brote Maccabeu and a brut nature cava.
