Casaley

◍ Pontevedra

About the winery

Casaley is a family winery in Curro, where the municipalities of Barro and Meis meet, at the gateway to the Salnés valley and within the D.O. Rías Baixas. The family grew Albariño long before the designation existed, planting cuttings and reviving pre-phylloxera vineyards, and in 2000 took the step of bottling as a winery, the first in the municipality of Barro. Its vines, trained on pergolas over gently sloping granite soils, are spread across small plots in Barro and Meis. The stone winery, at about 200 metres with views over the Ría de Arousa, is built on several levels to work by gravity, with the tank room underground. They make a single wine, Albariño Casaley, in limited quantities.
