About the winery
Celler La Muntanya is a small artisan winery in Setla de Nunyes, in Muro d'Alcoi, inland Alicante, devoted to recovering forgotten vineyards. It works more than 25 smallholdings in the Alcoià, Comtat and Vall d'Albaida districts, at an average of around 550 metres, with vines between 5 and 80 years old of native inland Valencian varieties, farmed without herbicides and paying growers a fair price. Each plot is vinified separately with its own yeasts and aged in tank and French oak barrels. Its main lines are Almoroig, Serpis de Ferro, Cavall de Foc and Paquito el Chocolatero, and it also makes vermouths and olive oil. It offers visits to the winery and to the Molí Vell de Benifayó with a tasting of its wines.
