Cien y Pico is a project in the Manchuela D.O. born in 2007 to rescue forgotten century-old Bobal and Garnacha Tintorera vines. Its home, Casa El Almendro, is in Casas-Ibáñez (Albacete), near the Cabriel valley, a biosphere reserve. Behind it are Elena Brooks, Zar Brooks, Nicola Tucci and Luis Jiménez, the latter being the local grower who always knew these vines had something special. The name comes from a local who, when asked how old the vines were, replied that they were a hundred and something years old. They harvest by hand and champion a style rooted in terroir. Their wines include Winemaker's Gallant, En Vaso, Doble Pasta, Knight Errant and Viña La Ceja, centred on Bobal and Garnacha.
