Mont Roig

◍ Alicante

About the winery

Finca Mont Roig is a small estate in Pedreguer, in the Marina Alta, next to the Benimaquía hill at the north-western end of the Montgó, an area where the Iberians already grew vines and made wine, within the D.O. Alicante territory. Its current owners started it in 2013 with a small plot, gradually adding neighbouring ones until reaching around two hectares today on clay soils rich in limestone. They farm organically, without chemical fertilisers or herbicides, with permanent cover crops and no tillage, and make natural wines with no added sulphites. Chardonnay is their main variety, found in Marofe, Rosers and Bisserot, the latter with viognier and moscatel de Alejandría, and their red is Tossal Roig, a syrah. They have their own tasting space.
