About the winery

Pazo Baión is an Albariño estate in Baión, Vilanova de Arousa, in the Salnés valley, within the D.O. Rías Baixas. Its history goes back to the 16th century, when it belonged to the lords of Sarmiento; in the early 20th century it was bought by Adolfo Fojo, a Galician emigrant who returned from Argentina and built the towers, the winery and the cattle sheds, and since 2008 it has belonged to Condes de Albarei. Today it has 22 hectares of its own vineyard, whose grapes go into Pazo Baión, the single-estate Vides de Fontán and Gran a Gran, made from botrytis-affected grapes. Guided visits take in the vineyard, the winery, the old dairy and the dovecote, and end with commented tastings of its Albariños, in several formats, some with food pairing or led by the winemakers.
