About the winery
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola is the family project of winemaker Pepe Mendoza at Finca de Abargues, in the Pla de Lliber, in Alicante's Marina Alta and within the D.O. Alicante. The original winery was built over an old riu-rau, and the Giró and Moscatel Romano vineyard, planted during the 20th century, is farmed organically and without irrigation on terraces held up by dry-stone walls. Besides these grapes he works with Monastrell, Alicante Bouschet, Macabeo, Merseguera and Viognier. The wines include Fierroca and Giró de Abargues, El Veneno from Monastrell, Pureza Ánfora, a dry Moscatel aged in amphora, the Casa Agrícola white and red, and the naturally sweet Paciencia Infinita. Group visits with a tasting are offered, as well as fuller tastings with cheeses and cured meats.
