About the winery
Plana d'en Jan is one of the smallest wineries in the Penedès D.O. and the fourth generation of winegrowers in the family, who have farmed the land since 1895 at the Mas d'en Benet estate in Pacs del Penedès. Joan Marrugat makes micro-vinifications from his best plots, with limited production and minimal intervention. The winery combines the old part, built by his great-grandfather over a hundred years ago, with tiled tanks and 1,200-litre chestnut casks, and a new part. Plots of Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Grenache, Malvasia, Ull de Llebre or Cabernet Sauvignon give wines such as Bon Jan, Insòlit, Tres Àmfores, Els Ametllers, Camp del Cuc and the Clàssic Penedès sparkling wine Magnànim.
