Quinta de Couselo

About the winery

The history of our winery is closely linked to the Monastery of Santa María de Oia. The Cistercian Monastery of Santa María la Real de Oia enjoys a magnificent setting facing the Atlantic Ocean, in a rocky cove between the towns of A Guarda and Baiona. Construction of this monastery began in 1136 under the reign of Alfonso VII. As Ávila y la Cueva pointed out in the last century, the name Oia is related to its location.
