Discover the wineries offering wine tourism in the I.G.P. Barbanza e Iria. Visit its vineyards by the Ría de Arousa, taste its wines and book your experience among the vines.
The I.G.P. Barbanza e Iria has 1 winery you can visit around the Ría de Arousa and the lower course of the river Ulla, between the provinces of A Coruña and Pontevedra. The area includes the municipalities of Boiro, Rianxo, Ribeira, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Dodro, Catoira, Valga and Pontecesures, and parts of Padrón, Lousame, Porto do Son and Rois. A land of sea and vineyards where you can combine beaches, seafood and winery visits.
Almost all the vineyards lie below 150 metres, in river valleys and gentle south-facing slopes, sheltered from ocean winds by the Barbanza range. The climate is humid oceanic, with mild, almost frost-free winters and a drier summer than is usual in Galicia. The soils, over granite, are loam or sandy loam, loose and slightly acidic. Native grapes dominate, such as Albariño, Godello, Treixadura, Caíño, Mencía and Sousón, for light, fresh whites and reds that call for seafood from the ría.
