About the winery
4 Kilos Vinícola is a winery in Felanitx, in south-east Mallorca, within the Mallorca vino de la tierra. It was created in August 2006 by Francesc Grimalt, a winemaker and former partner in Ànima Negra, known for reviving Callet, the island's native grape, and Sergio Caballero, a musician and co-founder of the Sónar festival. Their first vintage, 4 Kilos 2006, was made in a friend's garage, fermenting in old milk cooling tanks and open barrels; the next one already came from their own winery. Besides the red 4 Kilos they make 12 Volts, Grimalt Caballero and Gallinas y Focas, with grapes from vineyards such as Son Roig, Es Puput and Son Nadal, and they take great care over the image of each wine.
