Abadia de Poblet

◍ Tarragona

About the winery

Abadía de Poblet, the only winery in Catalonia located inside a historic monument, combines the winegrowing tradition of the monks of the Cistercian Order, originally from Burgundy, with the know-how of the Conca de Barberà, a unique area that has preserved the cultivation of native varieties. The philosophy of the new monastery wines, which revive local varieties (mainly Trepat, Garrut and Garnatxa), is that they should convey the characteristics of the grapes they are made from and the terroir in which they were grown.
