About the winery

Adegas Maleiga is the personal project of Wences, from Beade, in the heart of the D.O. Ribeiro, the grandson, son and nephew of lifelong grape growers. After a spell living abroad, he came back so as not to let the family legacy go to waste and, after many years selling his grapes for others to make wine, he decided to make his own. He farms 27 plots totalling about three hectares, almost all by hand, with integrated farming and no shortcuts. For his white he uses Treixadura as the backbone, with touches of Torrontés, Lado and Loureira, and experiments with wood, amphorae and fine lees; for his red he backs Sousón, Caíño and Ferrón, which he planted in the A Mourisca plot. The result is his two wines: Intre, the white, and Lapso, the red.
