Arbela

About the winery

Arbela is a family txakoli winery in Aia, Gipuzkoa, within the Getariako Txakolina D.O. It was born at the Zipiotegi farmhouse, on the slopes of Mount Andatza, between the sea and the forest, and takes its name from the estate's slate soil, arbela in Basque, unusual in the area and responsible for the mineral, lively character of its wines. They farm about five hectares at around 200 metres above sea level, split into three plots, with Hondarribi Zuri, Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia (Petit Courbu) and Chardonnay, all tended by hand. Production is limited and includes Arbela txakoli, Arbela Enbata and the sparkling Arbela Mari Brut Nature.
