About the winery

Altos de Chipude is a family winery in Chipude, in the municipality of Vallehermoso, within the D.O. La Gomera. Its story begins in 1955, when Antonio Negrín's father emigrated to Venezuela and asked the grandfather to plant the vines of the Rajadero estate; on his return he kept planting and making artisan wine. In 2014 Antonio took over the vineyards and, after building the winery on the same site as the family's first one, released his first wine in 2019. The vines grow at around 1,400 metres, on volcanic terraces next to the Garajonay National Park, mainly Forastera Gomera. They pioneered night harvesting on the island. They make the whites Rajadero, Rajadero Enterrado and Pribilo, and the red La Montaña, from Listán Negro and Tintilla. They welcome visits with tasting.
