Bodega Arrayán

◍ Toledo

About the winery

Arrayán was born in 1999, when José María Entrecanales and María Marsans planted vines on the La Verdosa estate, a dehesa in northern Toledo beside the Alberche river, between the plains of Méntrida and the Sierra de Gredos, within the Méntrida D.O. They started with Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and since winemaker Maite Sánchez arrived in 2009 they have added Garnacha, Albillo Real and old vines from Almorox, El Real de San Vicente and Cebreros. They make Arrayán Selección, La Suerte Garnacha and Albillo Real, the Finca La Verdosa wines from Graciano, Garnacha Peluda or Mizancho, and El Bufón from Cebreros. The visit includes a walk through the vineyard, the winery and a tasting with an aperitif of game charcuterie; access is via Torre de Esteban Hambrán.
