About the winery
Bodega Montoro is a family winery in Hermigua, in the north of La Gomera, covered by the D.O. La Gomera. Founded in 1951, it is run by Mario Rodríguez Mendoza with his brother, the oenologist Alejandro Rodríguez, who carry on the legacy begun by their paternal grandparents. It is located on the slopes of Enchereda, within the Majona Natural Park and close to Garajonay National Park. Its vineyards, between 400 and 550 metres above sea level, are worked by hand on small terraces under a sustainable viticulture model. It grows forastera gomera, forastera blanca, listán blanco, marmajuelo, listán negro and negramoll. Its wines include Laderas de Montoro Blanco Seco, 3 Vertientes Blanco Seco, Montoro Blanco Barrica, made from forastera blanca, and Laderas de Montoro Tinto Selección.
