About the winery
Castells i Montoliu is a small family winery in La Torre d'en Doménec (Castellón), within the area of the I.G.P. Castelló, which has revived the winemaking tradition of a village whose cooperative, Sant Onofre, opened in 1965. It is led by Carmen Castells, with the help of her husband, Ximo Montoliu; the project, started more than twenty years ago, takes its inspiration from Penedès, where she used to live. It works its own vineyards and plots leased from older farmers to keep them in cultivation, without chemical pest treatments, and makes around 6,000 bottles a year by hand from Garnacha Blanca, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. Its wines include the red Marqueses, the rosé dN and Siull. It organises guided tours of the winery with a tasting for its customers.
