About the winery
Bodega Erupción is in Tao, in the municipality of Teguise (Lanzarote), and its name recalls the island's last eruption, in 1824, one of whose vents was in this village. It was founded in 2021 by Amor López, a biologist and winemaker and the third generation of a grape-growing family whose present winery was built by her father, Marcial López, in 1982. She farms around five hectares of family vineyards spread over small plots in La Geria, Masdache, Tao, La Vegueta, Tinajo and Mancha Blanca, with old ungrafted vines of mainly Malvasía Volcánica and Listán Negro, plus Diego, Moscatel, Listán Blanco and Negramoll. The focus is on limited-production single-variety wines with volcanic names, such as the white Milagro de Magmasía, the red Luz de Obsidiana and the sweet Piroclastos.
