About the winery
Bodega HM Las Vetas is a very small winery located in Sabinosa, in the far northwest of the island of El Hierro, within the D.O. El Hierro. It farms around one hectare of vines and devotes its entire production to a single sweet wine, made using the solera system in old barrels and without added sulphur, a way of making this wine that has been kept up for some 120 years. It is made mainly from Vijariego Blanco, together with Gual and Listán Blanco, and bottled in half-litre bottles, with a production of about 300 bottles a year. Its 2017 vintage won a gold medal in the sweet and fortified wines category at the 2022 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
