About the winery
The winery of Juan Francisco Fariña Pérez is in Arafo, within the D.O. Valle de Güímar, in south-eastern Tenerife. His father, Antonio Fariña, already made wine for the household, a tradition inherited from his grandfather. In 1999 the winery joined the designation of origin and began bottling; its first barrel-aged whites came in 2007 and in 2012 the Los Loros line was born, named after the area where it stands, alongside the El Borujo brand. He farms just over a hectare of his own and two more belonging to others, with 70% white varieties (Listán Blanco, Marmajuelo, Albillo, Vijariego Blanco and Moscatel) and reds such as Listán Negro and Negramoll. He ferments with native yeasts and makes around 15,000 bottles a year, several of his whites with a sherry-like profile.
