Ladera Sagrada is a winery in the D.O. Valdeorras located in O Fornallo, in the municipality of Larouco, in the interior of the province of Ourense. Its name refers to its steep, terraced vineyard slopes on slate and granite soils with a thin layer of clay. It works mainly with Godello and Mencía, and its range also includes reds with Merenzao and Garnacha. Its best-known wine is Castelo do Papa Godello, made from hand-harvested Godello picked into crates, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and without malolactic fermentation, which is also made in a Mencía version. A significant share of its production is exported, especially to the United States.
