Bodega L’Ambora
About the winery
L'Ambora is a small family winery in Tegueste, in the north-east of Tenerife, within the D.O. Tacoronte-Acentejo. The municipality lies in a valley on the edge of the Anaga massif, the oldest volcanic mountain range on the island. It is run by Felipe Hernández González, a fourth-generation grower who moved from selling bulk wine to bottling the output of the family estate, which covers about two hectares. The own-rooted vines grow on sandy volcanic soils and some are over 60 years old. He works with Listán Negro, Negramoll and Listán Blanco, along with Gual, Marmajuelo and Malvasía, with hand harvesting, native yeasts and no filtration. Its wines are the red Villa de Tegueste and the white El Roquillo.
