Bodega Los Federos

◍ Albacete

About the winery

Bodega Los Federos is in Las Eras, in the La Manchuela area of Albacete, and occupies a protected historic building that still keeps its original 40,000-litre clay jars, in use until the 1960s. Its wines, under the D.O. Manchuela, are made from native varieties such as Bobal and Cencibel and draw on the know-how of generations of local growers. Its labels include Cueva Llana, Cueva Llana Macabeo and Tranco del Lobo. Alongside the winery there is a wine shop and a tavern serving artisan cheeses and cured meats. The visit takes in the historic cellar and ends with a tasting, and the team also runs guided tastings of wines from La Manchuela and Castilla-La Mancha, meetings with winemakers and themed events.
