Maldivinas is a wine project from the Ávila side of the Sierra de Gredos, founded in 2006 out of the passion for wine of Guillermo Fernández and Carlos Arenas. Its vineyards lie around Cebreros (Ávila), an area with a long winemaking tradition, and comprise three owned plots, one on loan and another managed by the winery. They are Garnacha vineyards, the local native variety, with vines between 20 and more than 85 years old planted above 800 metres on slate and granite soils. The soil is farmed naturally, without chemicals, in the belief that good wine starts in the ground. Under the La Movida brand it makes several Garnachas, including Granito, Pizarra and Laderas, aged in used French oak.
