About the winery
Nietos de Señora María is a family winery in Navandrinal, in the Sierra de Gredos in Ávila, with vineyards covered by the D.O.P. Cebreros above 700 metres of altitude. Its name pays tribute to the grandmother, señora María, a woman devoted to helping others who encouraged the family to take on the project. The first vineyard they revived was Fuente Seca, and they then went on to rescue other abandoned historic vineyards in the area, reaching 21 plots that they farm organically and traditionally. Garnacha is their grape. They make Avaviento Joven, Avaviento aged in French oak, Avaviento Ánforas, made in the grandmother's clay jars, and El Suspiro de Goyo, their single-plot wine, which comes each vintage from the best vineyard.
