D.O.P. Cebreros

The D.O.P. Cebreros has 8 wineries you can visit spread across the south-east of the province of Ávila, in the eastern foothills of the Sierra de Gredos. The area covers 35 municipalities between the Alberche and Tiétar valleys, from Cebreros, El Tiemblo and El Barraco to Sotillo de la Adrada, Piedralaves or Mombeltrán. A mountain destination for exploring old vineyards, highland villages and pine forests, and booking a tasting at a winery.

Its vineyards grow on sandy loam soils over granite bedrock, poor in organic matter, with a Mediterranean climate under continental influence and plots above 1,000 metres. Most of the vines are over 50 years old. Garnacha Tinta and Albillo Real are the backbone: reds with high alcohol yet fresh thanks to the altitude, and lively, flavourful whites that can age. Wines that pair well with Ávila beef and the roasts of the sierra.
