Bodega Ribada

◍ Lugo

About the winery

Bodega Ribada is in San Fiz, in Chantada, one of the subzones of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra. It was founded in 2005, although the family has been making wine in these Miño lands for several generations. Its vines grow on mountain terraces with slopes of up to 80 %, where machinery cannot reach and everything is done by hand. It works with Mencía and Godello, with winemaker Iria Otero Mazoy, and its range includes Ribada Selección Mencía, both young and barrel-aged, Ribada Selección Godello, a Mencía rosé, Pobre Tolo Mencía and Alma Tola Godello. The visit combines a walk through the vineyards by the river Miño, an explanation of winemaking in the cellar and a tasting of two wines with a traditional snack.
