Bodega Salzillo

◍ Murcia

About the winery

Bodegas Salzillo is a Murcian family company with a winery in Las Encebras, a district of Jumilla, at the foot of the Sopalmo slope, within the Jumilla D.O. It was founded in 2003 by Agustín Lacárcel after more than half a century in the wine and spirits trade, and is now run by his children and family. The name pays tribute to the Baroque sculptor Francisco Salzillo. It works its own vineyards and those of growers, with Monastrell as the lead variety alongside Airén, Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah, Merlot and Garnacha Tintorera. It vinifies in concrete, steel and wood, and its wines include Matius Crianza, Güertana, Zenizate, Híspalis and the sweet Camelot.
