Señorío de Monterruiz is a young winery in Casas de Santa Cruz, in the Manchuela area of Cuenca, run by Monteagudo Ruiz S.L. and linked to a lovingly restored rural house dating from 1730. It works in a traditional, artisan way, combining old clay jars and steel tanks, with grapes from vineyards at 750 to 800 metres: old Bobal vines over 40 years old, pruned for low yields, and young Cabernet Sauvignon. Its wines come under the D.O. Manchuela and the vino de la tierra de Castilla label, and its shop sells Vino de Paco and Airén and Bobal wine jellies. Winery visits include a tasting, and the house also offers traditional meals, bread and pastry workshops and visits to mushroom caves.
