About the winery
Bodega Toni Beneito sits on the El Cabeço estate in Bocairent, in the south of the D.O. Valencia, where the old 1880 winery has come back to life after more than a century of inactivity. Behind it is Toni Beneito, a textile engineer who as a child lived the harvests at a relative's small winery and who in 2019 set out to rebuild it and to train in viticulture and oenology. The project aims to recover old, nearly lost varieties: the base is Bonicaire (Trepat) and Tortosí, joined by Cabernet Sauvignon, Bobal and Monastrell, from vines over 30 years old that are hand-picked into small crates and sorted on a table. Its best-known wine is Alma Sana, an orange wine. The winery also takes part in the European VINNY project on sustainable viticulture.
