Bodega Valdesil

About the winery

Valdesil is a family winery in Valdeorras, based in Córgomo, within the D.O. Valdeorras. It was born in 1885 from the union of two local winegrowing families, the Pradas and the Gayosos, and is now run by the fourth generation. They are closely tied to Godello: the family credits itself with the first planting of this grape in Valdeorras and the area's first single-varietal vineyard, and they were among the first to give up bulk sales and bottle under their own label. They farm small plots on steep slopes, harvesting by hand and following biodynamic practices, and vinify each one separately. Their wines include Montenovo, Valdesil, Pezas da Portela, Valteiro, O Chao, Asadoira and Pedrouzos.
