About the winery
Venta de las Cuevas is an agricultural processing company (SAT) in Montealegre del Castillo, in the Albacete part of the Jumilla D.O. It was set up in 1987 by a group of growers who wanted to get more out of their grapes, and it was one of the first in the area to make and store its wines in stainless steel. It works on a large scale with grapes from more than 1,500 hectares of vineyards planted with local varieties on arid soils. Besides large volumes of D.O. wine, it sells its own brand Torrepechi, created in 1996, with a red from Monastrell and Syrah and a white from Macabeo and Airén made at low temperature.
