Bodega Xaloc is a small winery in Pollença, in the north of Mallorca, making wines under the V.T. Mallorca label. Its name comes from the island's gentle south-easterly wind. It was founded by Christina Schallock, who came to Mallorca in the late nineties to manage the Pollença golf club, bought an estate among the hills and planted vines on part of it. At first she planned to sell the grapes, but ended up making the wine herself with her own team. She grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah for the reds and Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc for the whites, harvests by hand and uses only her own grapes. Her wines include Monada, a barrel-aged Cabernet Sauvignon, El Colmo, a Syrah, and Verano, made from the Mallorcan Gorgollassa grape. The winemaker herself offers private tastings at the winery.
